A Night At the Movies – Live in Concert with Easingwold Town Band

Get ready for an unforgettable evening of cinematic magic as Easingwold Town Band presents “A Night At the Movies” – a live concert celebrating some of the greatest film music ever written.

Whether you’re a fan of adventure, romance, suspense or fantasy, this concert has something for everyone. With a programme packed full of stirring soundtracks, this is your chance to experience the power and beauty of movie music performed live by one of North Yorkshire’s most accomplished community bands.

The band will be performing a rich and varied selection of scores by three of the biggest names in film music:

🎼 John Williams – legendary composer of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, E.T. and Indiana Jones.
🎼 Hans Zimmer – known for his dramatic, powerful music in The Lion King, Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator.
🎼 John Barry – iconic for his classic James Bond themes, Out of Africa, and Dances with Wolves.

Expect familiar melodies, dramatic themes, and spine-tingling moments that will transport you straight into the heart of the movies. It’s the perfect night out for music lovers, film fans, and families alike.

Easingwold Town Band: A Summer and Autumn of Musical Delight

Easingwold Town Band is gearing up for a series of atmospheric performances this summer and autumn, bringing brass brilliance to village greens, chapels and community centres. With a repertoire spanning marches, hymns, stage and screen arrangements, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.


🎶 Thursday 3 August – Market Place, Easingwold

Kick-starting the summer season, the band will perform in Market Place, Easingwold on 3 August, from 1pm to 3pm, as part of the “Easingwold Summer of Music” series easingwold.gov.uk+7woldclass.co.uk+7instagram.com+7. Expect a lively mix of familiar tunes and new arrangements, perfect for a relaxed lunchtime audience amid a bustling artisan market.


🎵 Saturday 20 September – Wistow Chapel, Selby

In autumn, the band travels to Wistow Chapel, Selby for an early evening concert. It’s a wonderful opportunity to experience the band’s harmonious ensemble playing in a wonderfully intimate chapel setting. Be prepared for a programme that blends traditional brass with expressive solos and choral-style pieces.

The season reaches its finale at the Galtres Centre, Easingwold on 1 November. This indoor concert promises to feature a broad musical selection ideal for audiences as the evenings draw in. The band’s commitment to community spirit is reflected in this accessible and engaging performance.


A Band With Community at Heart

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings throughout the year, welcoming players of approximately Grade 4 standard easingwoldtownband.org.uk. A dedicated Beginners’ Group and Development Band also practice on Friday evenings (term-time), nurturing new brass musicians aged eight and above easingwoldtownband.org.uk. With instruments available on free loan and supportive one-to-one tuition, the band is dedicated to fostering local musical talent and ensuring a warm, inclusive atmosphere.

Exciting New Chapter for Easingwold Town Band in 2025

The Easingwold Town Band is thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter as we stride into 2025. Following the appointment of our new Musical Director, Peter Woodrow, in mid-2024, the band has been reinvigorated with fresh energy and creativity. This year, we’re proud to unveil our brand-new website, designed to connect us more closely with our community and fans.

A New Vision Under Peter Woodrow

Peter Woodrow joined us in June 2024, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for brass band music. His dynamic leadership has already had a transformative effect on the band, with innovative rehearsal techniques and a compelling repertoire that delights audiences of all ages. Peter’s vision is clear: to honour the band’s rich heritage while embracing modernity to inspire a new generation of musicians and listeners.

“The Easingwold Town Band has a proud history, and I’m honoured to lead such a talented group of musicians,” said Peter. “2025 is all about growth, collaboration, and creating unforgettable musical experiences for our community.”
